Ella Marchment nominated for prestigious award

In 2018 Ella became Artistic Director of Danish Arts Fest - Denmark’s first country-house opera festival.  Also in 2018, Ella was one of the founders of SWAP’ra (Supporting Women and Parents in Opera) -  a charitable organisation founded by a group of artists who are working to bring about positive change for women and parents employed in opera by – for example, publishing rehearsal schedules well ahead of a show to enable child-care to be arranged….For more information click here 

John Coke, co-founder of Bury Court Opera first came across Ella in 2015 when she directed the critically acclaimed one-woman show starring Cressida Bonas: ‘An evening with Lucien Freud’ by Laura-Jane Foley (‘The drama is given a deceptively brisk pace by the talented young director Ella Marchment.'  The Telegraph.  Subsequently, it was Ella who introduced John Coke and Suzanne Lemieux to composer Noah Mosley, with whom she had often collaborated and between them, the one-act chamber opera Mad King Suibhne was commissioned and had its world premiere at Bury Court Opera in 2017 to great critical acclaim.

Ella Marchment is directing Bury Court Opera's 2019 production of Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw (9 - 16 March 2019).

Noah Mosley's new opera Aurora  premieres at Bury Court  on 21 February 2019. (21 and 23 February 2019)
